Day 7 Firenze (Florence)

Up early and off walking to the Galleria dell'Accademia, where our tour managed to be first in the queue, by the time it was due to open the tours and other general tourists (2 separate lines) were stretched all over the street....it was quite funny to then see the tourist guides jockeying for position and by the body language and voices ours certainly put a couple of them in their places and she made sure that as she was first no one was going to get in front of her...being local she certainly knew what was what..after visiting the Gallery and viewing and hearing the history and story of David we then went onto the Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore, at the Piazza del Duomo... It was quite amazing...from there we carried on walking to the Piazza della Signoria.  The history of the place is remarkable ..we finally finished our tour at the Piazza Santa Croce...and then the fun started...constantly on the alert for the ever present pick pockets etc, we all split for the day..so what did the girls do..well... Shopped of course!!!! after walking to the Fiume Arno (River) we were able to view the Ponte Vecchio..having a very late lunch we then started to make our way back to the Hotel, again visiting many shops especially those with 50% off??
