lynandmargtravels: Day 5. Sorrento-Pompeii-San Gimignano

An early start to get to Pompeii....a guided tour through this interesting place and how much they have found and managed to get back from the lava covered city...some of the colours and fresco still remain would have been absolutely beautiful...nothing in this life is new it was happening many thousands of years ago even to boiling water and putting it under buildings throughout the city...as I write this we are in a massive autostrada stop..hundreds of vehicles/trucks/buses/cars...so far 4 ambulances have passed, 6 Police vehicles..4tow trucks, 2 fire engines....we have been here 30minutes...cannot see anything but appears a massive accident...in other words the autostrada is closed.....32degrees outside today...some other facts you may be interested in...when Police confiscate vehicles they then use them as undercover vehicles..and plain traffic vehicles..saves Police lots of money because they don't have to buy the vehicles ...look out Qld!!!.the alcohol limit is zero...2nd offence your car goes and that's that...1hour later we are on the way again..not much to see just the two crashed cars..Katia our Tour Director says they don't allow vehicles through until the people have gone..interesting..the bus/truck drivers are also very controlled and the hours of driving strictly enforced, fines are very heavy so every 2hrs we are compelled to stop....bring it on Qld...

Arrived at our hotel at 7.20pm a good 1.30hrs late..spectacular place ..
